The Vintage Hot Rod line from Fender took vintage-spec instruments, and utilised select upgrades to make for a more modern feeling and sounding instrument.
This example takes the foundation of the '57 Stratocaster and updates it to include a 9.5" radius, medium jumbo frets, and a slimmer feeling neck. Otherwise, standard Stratocaster design is present, with these examples featuring a beautifully done thin-skin nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Somewhere along the line, this instrument has been upgraded with the EMG DG20 David Gilmour loaded pickguard, which boasts a trio of great sounding SA pickups in tandem with EXG guitar expander SPC presence control for greater tonal control!
Plugged in, this example oozes classic Stratocaster mojo with a clear modern bent. Sounds nice and jangly, but also beautifully balanced and with plenty of oomph. Cosmetic condition is excellent throughout with minimal wear, outside of some minor scratches on the back.
Hardware is fully functional, and plays well with a low-medium action. Includes original hardshell case with booklet, strap, hangtags and receipt.
