The Story
Gaining notoriety as one of the most in-demand session musicians through the '70s and '80s, Larry Carlton appeared alongside artists such as: Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, the Crusaders etc. Known for playing an ES-335 for the majority of his career, Carlton partnered with Sire in 2020 to release a range of designs under Carltons supervision. One of the results of this collaboration is the S7, a S-shape offered in a HSS configuration with premium appointments directed at the aspiring professional musician.
The S7 features an alder body with flamed maple veneer and roasted hard maple neck. Sire utilise a proprietary Edgeless process, which rolls and smoothes the edges of the fretboard for superior playability.
Other features of note include a great sounding set of Sires' Super-ST HSS set, alongside Sire premium locking tuners. Nice sustain unplugged, the S7 sounds superbly balanced and with a wide variety of tones on tap.
Hardware is functional, and plays well with a low-medium action. Includes branded gig bag.
