The Story

It's not everyday that a 100 year old instrument shows up!

Founded by Arthur Octavius Windsor, the Windsor company started making banjos after a stint as a coffin maker, setting up a factory on Newall Street, Birmingham. During the early part of the 20th century, banjos were quite popular in the UK, with a number of manufacturers existing. After a German air raid levelled the factory in 1940, the Windsor company was no more.

This particular example, the Popular Model 2, features an 11-inch rock maple lined rim in tandem with a walnut neck. Featuring 28 brackets and what was described as patent 'non-slipping' pegs, the Popular 2 represented a quality 5-string banjo offering during its time. Still holds a tune and plays quite well, with the tuners having been replaced as well as being re-skinned.

Cosmetic condition is very good for its age, and showcases good stability throughout. Hardware is fully functional, and plays with a medium action. Includes a gig bag.
